Our Library
We are absolutely thrilled to have this vibrant space, carefully crafted to reflect the diverse and dynamic community of Hearsall Community Academy.
Our new library, opened in June 2024, is designed to provide a nurturing and inspiring environment for all our students. Here are some of the wonderful features you can explore:
- Banded Books: Organized by reading levels to help children find books that match their skills and challenge them to grow.
- Reference Books: A wide array of resources to support homework and foster curiosity in various subjects.
- Coventry Heritage Section: Books that celebrate and inform about growing up in Coventry, helping children connect with their local heritage.
- SEND and Emotional Wellbeing Books: A collection focused on supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities, as well as promoting emotional health and resilience.
- Dual Language Books: Resources to support our bilingual students and those learning English as an additional language.
- Newcomers Section: Books specifically for children who are new to England, helping them adjust and feel welcome.
- Magazine Section: Current and engaging magazines that cater to various interests and age groups.
- Inspiring Reads: A curated selection of books to spark imagination and inspire a love for reading, with recommendations from Nursery to Year 6.
- Beano Section: Our very popular Beano section, featuring Bennis the Menace and our very own Ben Crowther, continues to be a hit among students.
A good reading environment is crucial for children’s development. It enhances vocabulary, improves concentration, fosters creativity, and supports emotional wellbeing. Our library is a place where students can immerse themselves in stories, discover new worlds, and develop a lifelong love for reading.
In October 2024, Coventry North West MP, Taiwo Owatemi, visited our stunning library to experience its inclusive, diverse collection firsthand. From books that welcome newcomers and celebrate Coventry life to resources supporting special needs and showcasing diverse family stories, our library is a space where every child can see themselves and their stories reflected. Together, we are cultivating a love for reading that will last a lifetime.
